In groups, you will discuss the difference between how the old is treated in the cultures you received and in Jonas' culture. Then you will fill out "Jonas's Community" card with information regarding how the elderly are treated in his community
As a group, you will share one dream you have had. It can be as recent as last night, or a memorable dream that happened months ago. You will be provided "Dream Prompt Cards" for assistance in remembering dreams. Everyone needs to get a chance to share a dream.
Once everyone has shared, you will receive the "Dream Interpretation Cards" to help you interpret the meaning behind your dreams. Do your best to explain the symbolic meaning of each dream shared.
Jonas's community wants to have total control over the community. Think about control is exhibited in what they wear, their jobs, their family units, and even their age. Dream sharing is an assurance of continued control. If people have to share their dreams, they are sharing their interior lives which allows the community to quickly take steps to control and correct any person who may be deviating from societal norms.
Today, you will receive your life assignment. Once you receive your assignment, you will have two options. One, you may journal describing how you feel about your new job. Remember you are in Jonas's community, so respond in your journal like so. Or, if you are unhappy with your assignment, you may apply for a job change. Remember, that rarely happened.

We will discuss as a class and then each group will choose an important memory they would share with Jonas.
1. What does this memory reveal about human history/human nature? 2. Would this be an important memory to keep in history or could this type of memory be lost with no real consequences?
