  • Lives in a "utopian" society
  • Assigned to be the "receiver"

Major Events

  • Starts seeing colors when he started throwing and apple around with his friend (in their society they can't see color)
  • He being assigned to be the receiver and go through trials.
  • Realizing about what is "sameness"
  • Finding about "releases" are actually putting people down
  • Starts to have dreams

  • Jonas’s new emotional and sensory awareness cause him to rebel against the restrictions his society places on freedom of choice, individuality, emotion, and human experience.

Resolvement to Problem

  • Jonas in effort to free the people from the restrictions the society has placed, Jonas leaves his society and leaves the society boundaries, so he can share all the memories to the people, freeing them from "sameness"
