MANY SIFTED THROUGH THE DIRT IN THE RIVER TO FIND GOLD.

MINERS

MANY WORKED IN GROUPS IN ORDER TO FIND LARGER SUMS OF GOLD.

UPON THEIR ARRIVAL

MINERS AND THEIR FAMILY WOULD QUICKLY SET UP CAMP AND BEGAN WORKING

MINER TOWNS

WERE BUILT IN SUCCESSFUL AND ESTABLISHED MINING LOCATIONS.

DAMING AND DIVERTING THE RIVER

MINERS WOULD DAM THE RIVER SO THEY COULD MINE WHERE THE WATER ONCE WAS.

WAS A DIFFICULT, LONG, AND DANGEROUS JOURNEY THAT SOME FAILED TO SURVIVE.

WERE ABLE TO BE FUNDED BECAUSE OF THE RICH ECONOMY THE GOLD RUSH CREATED.

FARMING

BECAME A PROSPEROUS TRADE BECAUSE OF CALIFORNIA'S GROWING POPULATION.
