THE GOLDEN RULE

MATTHEW 7:12

Jesus said the law and prophets could be summed up in this one rule. So if we obey just one rule we will obey them all. This means we will be living life right the way God designed us to if we would only treat people the way we want to be treated. What does this practically mean to me day by day?

HOW DO WE EXPECT GOD TO TREAT US?

FORGIVE, LOVE, ACCEPT, LISTEN
The most important relationship in our life is the one we have with Jesus. What do we expect from Him how do we expect Him to treat us, if we are to apply the golden rule we need to apply it to our relationship with God as well as every one else. This can not always apply because although we expect to be forgiven by God, He never sins so there is never a need for us to forgive Him, but in such cases we know that our treatment of others also denotes our love for God. How can we say we love God and hate our brother.

HOW WOULD WE LIKE TO BE TREATED?

MATTHEW 7:1-4
How do we actually want to be treated. If we were in some one else's shoes, what we hope someone would do for us, do we do those things we hope for. What we want others do, what we demand others to do is what we should be doing. We expect and sometimes demand respect but do we give it. We say we don't want to be judged but what standard do we use on others. Do we judge others and look down on others to make us feel better about ourselves so we don't actually have to behave the way we should. The standard we want others to use on us is the standard we should use.

MATTHEW 18:21-35

This parable is about forgiveness, how one man expected it, received it but then did not treat another the very way he was treated. Jesus deals harshly with this man. We need to know that what we receive from God we need to be giving to others. Freely you have received freely you should give. From those who have received much, much is required.

COLOSSIANS 3:13 MATTHEW 6:14

We need to forgive others period. No matter what they have done, is it because what they have done is ok, no some things done against are us are horrid and evil, we forgive because God has forgiven us, that is the reason. Forgiveness does not make sin right, but is does let go of the hate, and helps us with our relationship with God and also helps us to move on.

LOVE

JOHN 15:12 JOHN 13:34
We need to love others the way God has loved us the way we want to be loved. Jesus showed us His love through sacrifice and service. He loved us so much He put our needs above His own that is the example we are to follow.

GIVE

The way God gives to us, the way we would want to be given to if we're in need that is how we are to give. To do it with a right attitude understanding that all that we have and who we are is from God and is in actual fact His, we are just managing His things they are not ours.

PHILIPPIANS 2:3-4

God unbelievably puts our needs above His. He listens to us and our options through prayer. God shows us amazing respect. We desire others to respect us to listen to us to values us and what we think. We must then do this. Even if we do not receive it we are to do it. Just like God does.
