PRESENTATION OUTLINE

THE GREAT COMPROMISE

  • Also known as the Connecticut Compromise.
  • It was an agreement created at the Continental Convention in 1787.
  • Each state received equal representation when choosing leaders.

THREE-FIFTHS COMPROMISE

  • Was an agreement between the southern/northern delegates.
  • Each slave in the south counted as 3/5 of a vote.
  • It was a way of helping the south compete with the north.

FEDERALISM

  • It is the transfer of power in an organizations.
  • Judicial: court systems of local, state and federal governments.
  • Executive: responsible for implementing, enforcing and supporting laws made by executive branch.
  • Legislative: makes the laws

ELECTORAL COLLEGE

  • The institution in which the president and vice president are officially elected.
  • There is a representation of each state.
  • Voters can't elect president nor vice president.

BILL OF RIGHTS

  • The collective name for the first ten amendments.
  • Was written by James Madison.
  • It was a way of keeping the individual rights of the people.

FEDERALIST VS ANTI-FEDERALIST

  • Federalist supported the orginial constitution.
  • Anti-Federalist opposed a strong federal government.
  • They want more power within the states (anti-federalist)
