THE GREAT DEPRESSION ROOTS

  • Agricultural problems:
  • Farm prices were high during ww1, dropped after the war &never recovered
  • Installment buying:
  • Many Americans simply did not have enough money for installment payments
  • For example: automobiles, refrigerators, vacuum cleaners etc.

  • Uneven division of wealth:
  • America was wealthy in the 1920 but the wealth didn't extended to all society
  • The stock market:
  • Citizens became well thy by purchasing stock
  • They couldn't lay back these payments & stock market crashed

HOW STOCK MARKET CRASH CUASED THE GREAT DEPRESSION

  • Bank closings increased:
  • Many banks in America had to close because farmers couldn't repay loans
  • Income fell for industrialists: workers lost their jobs because
