• The Great Depression was from 1929 -1945 i
• It lasted about 16 years

• The depression started in the United states with president Hoover
• IT was caused from the stocks crashing on October,29,1929
• This day was called Black tuesday

• The stock market lost nearly 14 million dollars
• And eventually the banks closed down  
• After the stocks crashed their was a wave of susides

• Their were massive food riots in america at this time 
• 25% of people took wages cuts or worked part time

• 40% of annual income from families droped 
• people had to sell what they owed to survive

• Nearly 750,000 farms were lost to bankruptcy 
• Crimes also increased

• John Steinbeck wrote Mice And Men during this time
• The Great Depression effected other contries in the world

• World trade dropped about 65%

• 50% of the children at this time did not have food or water 
• People died of starvation

• People also lost their children 
• And soup kitchens help people out a lot aseptically their children
