PRESENTATION OUTLINE

THE GREAT DEPRESSION

A book of rhymes

This was the day
The day everything changed
Known as Black Tuesday
The day it all was rearranged

From here to there
The Okies moved along
The conditions weren't fair
Running from the dust's song

The immigrant workers
Were always looking
They moved like searchers
Trying to find somewhere to be working

The women were becoming more
Filling in the space
Working in the stores
Finally known for more in this place

The African Americans
Still had it tough
Were made comparisons
I say they've had enough

The Mexican Americans vacated
Back to where they were born
Their old friends awaited
Away from the storm

The Asian Americans were resented
There were less and less
Their place was argumented
They left the U. S.

The Natives were
One more step
Closer and closer
They were citizens, but not there yet

Those small farmers
Were a determined bunch
They had strong characters
Eating dust for lunch
