- Scott Fitzgerald was born in Minnesota, 1896
- He was born to an upper class family
- According to Scott he was named after his second cousin from his dads side, Francis Scott Key
- He lived his childhood in the city of Buffalo New York

EARLY LIFE OF SCOTT

- Scott attended the Princeton University in New Jersey
- There he became more skilled at writing and literature
- In 1917 He dropped out of the university to join the Army
- While in the army he wrote his first novel The Romantic Egotist

SCOTTS LATE LIFE

- During the roaring twenties Scott was greatly influenced by his visits to Europe
- He made his income during this time by writing stories and then selling them to Hollywood
- In 1925 Scott wrote the Great Gatsby, although it didn’t become popular until after his death
- In 1934 He wrote a follow up story called Tender is the Night

SCOTT’S DEATH

- Scott had been suffering from alcohol addiction since his years in college
- He had also been suffering from recurring Tuberculosis
- During the 1930’s he suffered a heart attack but he managed to survive
- However in the 1940’s he suffered another heart attack while eating chocolate and died
- He was buried in Rockville Maryland

THE 1920’S

- Famously the 1920’s have been known as the roaring tweets
- Consumerism grew with people buying things they couldn’t afford with credit
- Overall people were living a good standard of living as it seemed that the nation would continue to grow in wealth forever

CULTURE OF THE 20’S

- During this time period mass culture began to take shape
- New devices like the radio allowed for all Americans to be connected to events around the world and to have a new form of mass entertainment
- meanwhile new music like Jazz was taking off from cities all around America
