SETTING

• The setting of the story is at the Barron ranch
• The story is in herding season in 1951

5 CHARACTERS

• Horace Cawley:about 35 years old and a half bitten circle out of right ear from a bar fight permanent worker
• Tinckner: permanent worker,old man with cancer he is dieing and usually take the sheep to the hay meadow
• John barely Jr. He is a 14 year old boy who believes he has no meaning in life till he gets the hay meadow job
• John barely Sr. He is quiet man who misses his wife and decides to spend rest of tinckners life with him
• Great grandpa: johns rule model the man who started the family business

THEME

• The theme of the Haymeadow is a boy who felt unneeded in this world with a dead
• Mother and a sad father. John was needed to take sheep to the Haymeadow for tinckner and he fased
• Many challenges in this story.

CONFLICT RESOLUTION

• There are 6000 sheep that need to cross a highway.It is a 4 man job with good dogs.
• They decide to saddle up Speck and help Cawley and the 4 dogs and the sheep cross the rode.
• The sheep didn't want to leave the water hole.And Cawley couldn't herd them.
• John unhooked Speck and rode around the heard and snapped rope till the sheep left.

SUMMERY

• The summery of the Haymeadow is a boy named John had to take the task of herding the sheep at the Haymeadow
• For the old man dying of cancer.john believes he can't do this and on the first day a huge storm hit and he lost
• Nearly all his supplies.As john scavengers for his supplies a coyote band came and attacked the sheep and
• John shot and killed a coyote but he also killed a lamb.A few days later a bear killed a large amount of sheep and hurt john and one of the dogs .john cleaned up all the wounds but many sheep
• Didn't survive.this is my summery of the Haymeadow.

CONFLICT RESOLUTION

• There was a rattler in the Haymeadow.the rattler bit a lamb
• John had to suck the venom out of the wound.And then he had to put pine tar over the wound to stop infection

A LIFE EVENT

• A life event is when the little lamb died and John had no way of saving it.
• This is like when one of my pets died.Or like when a relative dies.this is a real life example
• John was hurt really bad when the bear hit him. I was really hurt before my knee surgery

ASPENS

• Small trees with light leaves you can hear in the breeze
• The land was covered in aspens and shrubs

DWINDLED

• To become smaller and smaller
• The game trail dwindled into nothing

HAYMEADOW

• This book is called The Haymeadow.
• A grassy land where animals feed and usually a big body of water is around.

CHARACTER IM MOST LIKE

• I'm most like john.I'm like him because he has rode a horse before.
• And when I go somewhere I usually don't pack a lot of clothes.john likes fruit
• Cocktail just like I do.john cares about his dogs like I do.

MY FAVORITE PART

• My favorite part is when the coyote hit.It was my favorite because John solved the problem
• By shooting them.its also my favorite part because it was the night of the storm that hit all his supplies making it
• A bad time for it to happen.john was scared at first but then he scared them away.this is my favorite part.
