HEART LAYERS

  • Pericardium- surrounds the heart
  • Myocardium- thick bundles of cardiac muscle twisted
  • Endocardium- lines the heart chambers

HEART CHAMBERS

  • Right atria- Receives deoxygenated blood from the body
  • Right ventricle- Pushes deoxygenated blood to bet oxygenized
  • Left atria- Receives oxygenized blood
  • Left ventricle- Pushes oxygenized blood to the whole body

HEART VALVES

  • Semi-lunar valves- valve between a ventricle and a great vessel
  • Bicuspid- the left a/v valve
  • Tricuspid- the right a/v valve

  • Is a machine that doctors use to tell when the heart
  • Isn't functioning right when they are doing surgeries

CARDIAC OUTPORT FORMULA

  • Is the volume of blood being pumped by the heart
  • In particular by a left or right ventricle in the time interval of one minute
  • One minute

ARTERIES VS. VEINS

  • Arteries carry oxygenated blood except the pulmonary circuit
  • Veins carry deoxygenated blood except the pulmonary circuit

BLOOD PRESSURE- SYSTOLE/DIASTOLE

  • Systolic pressure is the pressure when the heart is contracted
  • Diastolic pressure is the pressure of heart when relaxed
