  • Football is a game where two teams of 11 players try to use different plays to score points.
  • The defense tries to prevent opponents from scoring.
  • You can score by either scoring a touchdown, field goal, or safety.

  • Within these organizations there are divisions, conferences and teams.

  • Big Ten (midwest/east)
  • PAC 12 (west coast)
  • SEC (southern)
  • ACC (east coast)
  • Big 12 (all over)

WHAT IS A CONFERENCE?

  • A conference is a group of teams.

FOOTBALL IS EVOLVING

  • Football is evolving with rules and materials.
  • Examples: there is now more rules against physical contact to prevent players from getting hurt.

OTHER EXAMPLES

  • To helmets they have added face masks, more padding, harder outside shell, etc.

  • It is a prolate spheroid which is made to simulate the shape of an inflated pig's bladder which is what the first footballs were made of.
