THE START OF IT ALL

  • Volleyball was first created in 1895
  • The creator was named William G. Morgan
  • The reason Morgan created it was because he was a sports director
  • Morgan wanted something new for the members of the YMCA
  • Created in Holyoke, Massachusetts

Growing

As the years went on many rules were instituted, by the United States Volleyball Association (USVA) which was formed in 1928. It has grown to be a great game to watch or play. And the key to being a good volleyball player is to be fast and smart.

RULES:

  • Three touches per side
  • Nobody is in the net at all times
  • The setter can only take the second ball
  • The opposing team can't cross the line
  • Must be in the correct rotations when in play

What is a full/pro. Play?
After the ball is served the players can move to their assigned positions, and the correct way to score a point would be to
Pass, set, and hit or spike.

Since this was a game originally created for men, of coarse the first volleyball game was played by them. The first ever game was played in 1896, only one year after it was created. After that, volleyball grew more and more, and finally they decided to institute volleyball as an Olympic Sport ( If you have never watched volleyball on the summer Olympics, you need to because it is awesome!).

IN THE OLYMICS
