Beginning

  • In January 30,1933 the Holocaust had started in the middle of WWII
  • The word Holocaust is from Greek origin Meaning "Sacrifice by Fire"
  • By the end of WWII over six million Jews had been killed along with disabled people, children and other groups that Hitler didn't approve

Concentration Camps

  • These were horrific camps that detained people in harsh conditions
  • They had to wait in long lines to shower,to get food if any and had to work hard everyday

Worst Camp

  • By far the worst camp of them all was Auschwitz or "The Death Camp"
  • When people first got there they would be split up and sent to the left to the Gas Chamber or the right to a large barn to be stripped of there clothes.
  • But most had to face the Death Pits which was the worst fate for a Jew to face.

Horrible Ways they Died

  • Gas Chamber
  • Death Pits
  • The Furnaces
  • Overwork
  • Disease

Children

  • Nazi's didn't care about killing or hurting children
  • Over 1.5 million Jewish children were killed

Numbers of People Killed

The End

  • The Holocaust lasted from January 30, 1933 – May 8, 1945
  • The Allies started advancing over Germany and taking over camps and in 1945 Auschwitz was liberated
  • At the end there was 50,000 - 100,000 survivors living in Europe and when Adolf Hitler was removed from power the number climbed to over 200,000

The End Continued

  • Hitler committed suicide before the Allies could reach him
  • Most of the Nazis committed suicide as well because they didn't want to face the consequences of there actions
