Salva experienced something that most people will never experience in their lifetime. Civil war changed his life and shaped his personality. Salva was forced to grow up at a young age after being separated from his family. Luckily, he found his uncle which helped give him the strength to make the journey to Ethiopia. After Salva and refugees were chased from Ethiopia to the Gilo River, Salva witnessed traumatic scenes, which was not an easy task after the death of his uncle. These events forced Salva to grow up, but he became a leader as a result of it. All of these events combined with Salva coming to America allowed for him to create Water for Sudan and help the people of his country.
