  • Queue- people or cars waiting in line.
  • Found on page 7
  • "You are sealed into one of the thirty- two capsules with strangers who were next to you in the QUEUE ....."
  • I was with strangers in the queue for a new movie release.

WORD NUMBER 2

  • Hawsers
  • Hawsers- large heavy rope used in ships.
  • Found on page 8
  • " The best thing to look at is the spokes and metallic HAWSERS of the Eye itself."
  • The ship had hawsers at the front of the boat.

  • Curator-janitor of a collection in a museum

  • Barracks- buildings used to house people in the military.

  • "There's a meeting about blowing up the BARRACKS."
  • When I was traveling we passed the barracks.

  • Garter- a band wrapped around the leg to hold fabric up.
  • Found on page 43
  • " I Salim, she said as if he were in the room, "I will have your guts for GARTERS."
  • My mom had to use garters for her knee socks.

  • Palaver- look or sound confused.

  • Morgue- a building where no longer living bodies are placed.
  • Found on page 117
  • " He's in the MORGUE"
  • The body was placed in the morgue before the funeral.

WORD NUMBER 10:

  • Abacus
  • Abacus- an arithmetic calculator using beads.
  • Found on page 83
  • "They're like ABACUS beads," Kat said "going left to righ."
  • An abacus is an ancient Chinese calculator.
