The Roanoke Colony, known as the Lost Colony, was established on Roanoke Colony.
It was Queen Elizabeth1's attempt in the late 16th century to establish a permanent English settlement.

There were two different colonies that settled on Roanoke Island,
the first one was made up of mostly men, who only stayed for 1 year.
The other disappeared in 1590.

THE WORD "CROATOAN" MEANS THAT THEY WILLINGLY MOVED TO TO THE CROATOAN ISLAND
SOME BELIEVE THAT THE POWHATAN TRIBE KILLED THEM OF
THE COLONISTS TRAVELED FURTHER INTO THE FOREST.
