What was the lost colony?
The lost colony was a colony established in the Roanoke islands for trading purposes that mysteriously disappeared in 1587.

When was the colony established?
The original colony was established in 1585, the Roanoke colony was built in 1587. The colony was discovered missing in around the 1590s.

Why were the colonists in Roanoke?
The colonists were in Roanoke to look for raw and valuable crops and materials for trade with the mother country.

That White's daughter gave birth to the first English child born in North America.

Artifacts
The colony left behind the words "Croatan" in a tree, the letters "CRO" in a fence post and then they left nothing behind when they disappeared. Not even corpses to support a theory on why they vanished when White came back.
