Ms. Jackson attended University of Rochester for a year
After college she spent her time writing short stories

Every year a lottery is held in a small town
The winner of this lottery is stoned to death
This year's winner is the Hutchinson family
And Tessie Hutchison is not happy

Family- the Lottery bring family close together, hoping they don't get picked
Mob Mentality- The lottery shows how powerful a mob mentality.
Silence- No body says anything about the lottery until they are chosen to die

Overall the Lottery is just a controlled murder
In what seems to be a peaceful town violence is carried out
The mood is almost festive, the Lottery is almost like a festival
