THE LOUISIANA PURCHASE

Westward,Ho!
In 1800 the territory of US extended as far west as the Mississippi River.
For some years, the Spanish allowed American goods to move freely in their Territory that made Americans to move in to the new territory.
Napoleon dreamed of a Western empire, he wanted the territory for him self but Santo Domingo ended that dream for good by inspiring others different Ideas.

THE FRENCH THREAT

In 1802, the Spanish suddenly changed their policy,no longer allowing American goods to move into and beyond New Orleans.
The news alarmed Jefferson, and the agreement with Spain and Farmers posed a serious threat to the United States.

NAPOLEON AND SANTO DOMINGO

• In 1802, Napoleon sent troops to regain control of Santo Domingo,but they where driven out.
• Thats when the countries original name, Haiti.

AN EXPANDING NATION

• Napoleon sold Louisiana Purchase to the United States for money against Britain
• It took us a while to pay the Louisiana Purchase it was $15 Million.

THE LEWIS AND CLARK EXPEDITION

• Jefferson want them to get to the new terrritory
• Lewis hired Sacagawea as a guild to the new territory

An Federalist plan to Secede

The Louisiana Purchase troubled the Federalist.
The New England group would help them sell the territory but that's when Aaron Burr will stop this
with a Duel

Hamilton and Burr Duel

Burr was the one that dared to duel Hamilton.
But Burr won by wounded him ,and then Burr ran to South Caroline, Sad but true, Hamilton died the next day
