Functional Areas

 

Greek Conduct Board

  • Collaboration between SAGA and OSCCR 
  • Reinstatement of GCB 
  • GCB modeled after SCB 
  • Using my skills as a member of the Greek community in a new context

DEliverables

  • Editing GCB manual to reflect unique voice of community
  • Reworking mission, philosophy and language to be applicable
  • Creating scenarios (within the manual) that speak to the Loyola experience
  • Updating training materials 

Applicable Language

  • The Jesuit mission creates a unique approach to conduct
  • More educational and developmental versus punitive
  • Loyola experience creates a unique Greek community focus 
  • Issues faced in this context are very different compared to other campuses

Challenges

  • Different councils have different bylaws and conduct processes 
  • Who hears NPC, IFC, MGC cases? 
  • Creating a system for hearings to be fair and relevant to GCB
  • Wording (punitive versus educational and developmental)

Installation of Lambda Sigma

  • Initiative from SYE
  • Creating a sustainable program for sophomore students

  • Ensuring Second Year Experience goals are met
  • Organization built on scholarship, service, fellowship and leadership

Deliverables

  • Creating parts of the application submitted to Nationals
  • Reworking the sample bylaws to Loyola students 
  • Setting a foundation that officers could build off of  
  • Clear objectives for officers and committees
  • Working calendar that can be edited with a timeline 

Challenges

  • Communicating how Lambda Sigma will be beneficial to everyone
  • Submitting applications and garnering support from senior staff 

Impact

  • Opportunity for students to become leaders with their peers 
  • Once established, the organization has opportunity to program 
  • Creating generations of leading students that will continue to grow 
  • Departmental benefits 
  • Accomplishing SYE goals for second year students in many ways
