Formula:

There is + ( subj. of sentence) = sing. subject

There are + ( subj. of sentence) = plural subj.

Formula:

Verb € subject

Verb (is not) € intervening phrase

Formula:

-subject + subject= plural verb

subject+subject= sing. verb

( a bit tricky )

Indefinite pronouns = sing. verb

Except:

many, few, others, several, both = plural verb

Formula:

Portion {OP} = sing. or plural verb

Formula:

A number = sing. verb

But

The number= plural verb

And lastly:

$ or am/ pm= sing. verb
