DENSITY

  • 0.1% the mass of the atmosphere
  • It's more dense than the thermosphere
  • Less dense than the stratosphere

COMPSITION

oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen and carbon

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES

  • It's the coldest of all the layers
  • In this layer, most meteors burn up
  • Weather balloons can't fly high enough to study it
  • It's to low for satellites to orbit it
