RESURRECTION DAY

THE MIRACLE OF CHRIST'S RISING

After the Sabbath on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Salome come to the tomb to anoint Jesus' body with sweet spices. (Mark16:1)

THE SHOCK OF THE EMPTY TOMB

  • The tomb was guarded by soldiers and even the devil himself was present
  • The stone had been rolled away by an angel of The Lord
  • The angel(s) remind Jesus' followers of His words (Luke 24:6-9)
  • The women went to tell Peter and the disciples
  • Jesus appears to some of the disciples and followers

JESUS SHARES A MEAL WITH HIS DISCIPLES

  • He convinces some of their unbelief
  • Shows his wounds in His hands and feet and side
  • Allows them to touch Him(Luke 24:39)

THE CALL TO ACTION FOR US AS BELIEVERS

  • Our Lords last instruction was a command
  • It is best represented in Matthew 28:16-20

WHY JESUS' RESURRECTION SHOULD BE REMEMBERED EVERYDAY

  • It completed the work of Christ on the cross.
  • It demonstrates the power of God(the miracle to raise Him)
  • Death and the grave could not keep Him.
  • Because He lives, we can live (eternally)
  • It teaches us what the truth is of why we celebrate this day
