Herbert White - The son of Mr. and Mrs. White. Herbert is the only surviving child of the Whites. He works with heavy machinery at a company called Maws and Meggins
Mr. White - Herbert’s father and Mrs. White’s husband. Mr. White is an old man. Although it is Mr. White who makes all three wishes, he makes the first two only at the suggestions of his wife and son.
Sergeant-Major Morris - A friend of the Whites. Sergeant-Major Morris enjoys talking about his adventures abroad and shows the Whites his monkey’s paw, he discourages Mr. White from dreaming of India, suggesting that life is better and simpler at home in England. He throws the monkey’s paw into the fire and urges Mr. White not to make any wishes, but he ultimately tells him exactly how to make a wish.
The Representative - The man who informs Mr. and Mrs. White of Herbert’s death. He gives Mr. and Mrs. White money from the company for their sons death
Exposition The family is introduced and the monkey's paw is introduced as a magical object that grants 3 wishes to only 3 people and only 2 people have wished on it and the first person wished for death in his last wish.
Climax Mrs white tells her husband to wish for their son back. Mr white does not ant to because his sons body was unrecognizable. He wishes and a few minutes later there are thumps on the door
Falling action Mrs white freaks out trying to open the door for her undead son. Mr white is looking for the monkey's paw because he lost it and doesn't want Herbert to come in
Resolution It is not said what mr whites last wish was, but the noise at the door stops and the door is opened and no one is outside. It ends with mr white hugging his wife who is in grief
