• Example: I choose to study for my religion test rather than going to a concert

THE INTENTION

• The choice of the will to do something
• Example: My choice to study for the religion test is my intention

THE CIRCUMSTANCE

• Involves matters of who, what, when, where, why, and how
• Important because in order to evaluate a moral act, we must know who and what is involved
