  • Kristallnacht known as the campaign of anti-Jewish violence.
  • Means "Crystal Night" in German.
  • Also called the Night of Broken Glass
  • Started in November 9-10, 1938

The Night of Broken Glass

  • In 2 days, over 250 buildings destroyed and 7000 businesses were trashed.
  • The morning after, 30,000 German Jewish men were arrested for being Jewish and sent to concentration camp.
  • Many businesses are not allowed to open unless they are managed by non-Jews.

  • Children are not allowed to go to public school, playgrounds, and swimming pool.
  • Most families tried to escape.
  • Many Jewish adults committed suicide.
