The Niuean culture is a small island nation located in the South Pacific Ocean (West in The Cook Islands. South of Samoa. East of Tonga.and Northeast of New Zealand). Until the beginning of the 18th century Niue appears to have no national government.

The first people to settle in Niue are believed to have come from Tonga and Samoa. (and a small group of people from the Cook Islands.
The first European to sight Niue was Captain James Cook in 1774. Captain James Cook named the island "Savage Island". He named the island "Savage Island" because the people there appeared to have blood on their faces.
