WOMENS APPRECIATION

ETHICS QUICK CHECK

• It is legal, but unethical
• It is not fair because Michael is being sexist towards women
• It would make me feel uncomfortable because it's a "professional" environment
• Universal law - no because then all the guys would be sexist
• Law of common good - it wasn't the best move for the entire company

WHAT HAPPENED?

• Meridith got flashed by a man on her way in to work
• Michael thought that it was funny at first, when obviously she was in destress
• Michael then called a meeting that was about women basically, and he made it sexist
• To make it up to the women, Michael took all of them to the mall to talk about feelings
• This didn't work of course, and Michael ended up buying every woman an item at the mall.

RIGHT/WRONG/ISSUES

• This problem was at the branch level
• The only thing that Michael did right was call a meeting to try and help, which it didn't
• Michael did just about everything wrong, and the guys in the office even went in to the girls bathroom
• Michael could have just told Meredith to take the day off or to get help/talk to another woman
• The women were definitely not treated equally in this case
