ROMULUS AND REMUS

  • According to myth, Rome was founded by Romulus and Remus, two brothers.
  • They were abandoned, and they were cared for by a she-wolf.
  • After this, they were found by a shepherd.
  • The two brothers decided to build a city, but Remus was killed by Romulus in a quarel.
  • The city was named Rome, and its date of founding was 753 bc.

REALITY

  • In reality, it is likely that Rome came out of a combination of settlements near the Tiber.
  • The first Romans were called Latins.
  • Their army was formed as a measure to protect them against local enemies.
