R is for refuse
In The Outsiders, Ponyboy refused to accept that Johnny had died. Ponyboy refused to accept that he was a "Greaser". He also refuse that there's such a difference between Socs and Greasers. He refused to have a reason to fight, other than self-defense.
S is for Stay Gold
"Stay Gold Ponyboy," is what Johnny had said to Ponyboy as he passed away. This means he wants Ponyboy to keep his innocence. He wants Ponyboy to be a good kid, and grow up to be a good person. He is telling Ponyboy to stay away from the dangers in life, and not to make bad decisions.
T is for tearful
There are many parts in the book where to characters begin to become tearful. Darry, tears up when seeing Ponyboy in the hospital. Ponyboy tears up when seeing Johnny die. And even when Dally had died.
U is for unbearable
Johnny's death was unbearable for Ponyboy, and all the rest of the gang. It was so unpleasant and painful to them, Ponyboy had to deny that it had happen. It was so unbearable, that it led Dally to purposely have the cops shoot him to death.
V is for victim
Ponyboy and Johnny were the real victims of the crime. They had used self-defense, causing one to be dead. This turned it all around. Bob, and his gang, became the victims. And Ponyboy and Johnny were to blame.
W is for win
The greasers were determined to win the rumble. They wanted to show the Socs what they could do, and they wanted to end it all. After many of the gangs getting hurt. They won. Socs ran off, and they all jumped and were excited to tell Johnny they had won.
X is for teXas
After Johnny killed Bob, they had to hide. The ran off to a town called Windrixville. Everyone had thought they went to Texas. Two-Bit even wanted to go search for them in Texas.
Y is for year-round
The constant fighting between the Socs and Greasers was a year round thing. It happened whenever, and wherever. It happened all year, and each time someone got hurt.
Z is for zebra
Each zebra has a different strip pattern. Like how the socs and greasers are different. They also each have a different story and background. This makes them who they are today and creates there individual personality. That's is what makes Darry tough, Soda pop funny, Dally hateful and Ponyboy smart.
