Dirt blowing in my face, and all I hear is the deafening sound of machine guns firing all day this is the most smelly miserable place on the earth. This is a living hell here in Gallipoli we are getting killed one by one. There is a horrible smell of burning flesh it is making me really sad just thinking about all the people who have died here. We have been making bunkers and camps after we got past the Turks almost a quarter were lost when we landed. We have just woken up and have been digging trenches to last longer I am tired as hell.

The smell of shells and rats are disgusting I have been making ammunition for hours and hours in this warehouse. The alarm hide! ah! BOOM BAM CRASH POW is it over whispered a voice I think so replied a voice whew that was close I walk back home The warehouse really gave me an ache in my leg I can’t believe I almost died not seeing my husband again I would hate that. I really miss my husband I hope he comes back soon.

Mum are we going to see dad ever again I hope so billy I hope so. Can you read me one of dads letters ok i'll read this letter. 20/5/1915 it has been chaos here in Gallipoli we were ambushed when we landed on anzac cove. I was so scared I hid behind the raft I saw my life flash before my eyes it was so scary. but we managed to push forward and set up trenches and bunkers i'll write to you later yours truly Dave.
