LIVING IN THE WEST

  • Through 1840-1869 the pioneer women travelled to the west.

Moving To The West:
Most of the women were wives and mothers. Single women were seeking husbands, homesteaders, and other new opportunities.

CHALLENGES

  • Diseases.
  • Drown when crossing rivers.
  • Freeze to death.
  • Indian attacks.
  • Dehydration.

SETTLE

  • The pioneer women settled in the west.

ANNIE BIDWELL

  • She taught sewing to local Indian women.
  • Helped the womens children learn to read and write english.
  • She faught for womens rights.

SHAPING THE WEST

  • Womens Rights.
  • Being able to vote.
  • Equality.
