PRECEPTS

• The bare minimum actions required of Catholics regarding the Church
• Christian life involves commitment
• With these Precepts, we are reminded of this to live better and holier lives

YOU SHALL ATTEND MASS ON SUNDAY AND ON HOLY DAYS IF OBLIGATION

• This is the first Precept of the Church
• This means that we shouldn't skip mass because it is going out of our way
• We must keep the Lords Day (Sunday) Holy

You shall confess your sins at least once a year

• This means that you must go to confession once a year
• We must cleanse our heart for the Eucharist
• We need Jesus' healing

You shall receive the Eucharist at least during the Easter season

• When Jesus is in us, we become more like Him
• The Eucharist is the center of Christian liturgy
• This is the minimum connection with Jesus through his body and blood

You shall observe the days of fasting and abstinencE

• This helps us to ensure the time to prepare for the liturgical feast
• Helps us to realize and be great full for what we have
• Is a sacrifice and preparation

YOU SHALL HELP TO PROVIDE FOR THE NEEDS OF THE CHURCH

• To help provide with the needs of the Curch
• Provide the necessities that is needed for the Church to function
• This is to the best of ones abilities
• Giving time, talent, and treasure

ABSTINENCE

• This means not eating meat for fasting purposes
• (Fish not included in this)
• All Catholics above 14 are required to do this

GOING BEYOND

• We can practice becoming better Catholics and not just doing the least
• Going beyond the excepted can help us in our spiritual life
