how did the reformation begin?

  • Martin Luther started the reformation with his great accomplishments 
  • By the early !500's Europeans viewed their lives with a critical eye.
  • people didn't like the way the clergy was behaving (religious matters)
  • one person who wanted to do something about this was Martin Luther 

origins of the lutheran church

  • lutherans  protested catholic church
  • they owned their own church
  • lutherans didn't agree with the way the church was behaving 
  • the people didn't want the bible in Latin because no one knew latin (German

  • catholics believed that people earned salvation by following the church
  • lutherans did not believe that people can due something to earn salvation 
  • they thought that salvation was gods gift
  • those who had faith preformed good works

  • protestant groups used 2 sacrements baptizm and communion

  • indulgences was like a way to salvation
