how did the reformation start?

  • Martin Luther didn't like how the Church was abusing their powers
  • Martin Luther became involved in a serious dispute with Church authorities
  • The Church thought that having a good life were the keys to salvation
  • Martin Luther though that salvation was a gift from God
  • Martin Luther started a theses about Church abuses and put it on the door

origins of lutheranism church

  • Lutheranism began in germany after Martin Luther was moved by the catholic
  • Church in 1521.  Martin  Luther created the movement Lutheranism after  
  • He tried to workout his differences with the Church but his views were  
  • Condemned .

Sin/Salvation

  • Luther and his followers disagreed with the Catholic Church
  • Lutherans did not believe that people could do anything to earn salvation
  • Lutherans thought that salvation  was god's gift

Authority

  • Lutherans didn't like religious authority like Church councils and the pope
  • They believed that the bible was the only true source of religious guidance
  • They published the bible in many languages so that people read themselves
