• Born in North Carolina to a Physician and his Mother was an Artist/Poet
• Mother died and his Aunt was most influential to him
• Married and had a daughter
• Wrote most of his life, but most published books came from his prison time

CHARACTERS

• Ebenezer Dorset- Father/Has money
• Bill and Sam- Thieves turned Kidnappers
• Johnny- Red Chief- Kidnapped

SETTING

• In Alabama
• Take Johnny to a cave outside of town

PLOT

• After being kidnapped Red Chief became a handfull
• He gets very attatched to Bill
• Bill can't take it and wants to return him
• The Father declines the ransom and has the Captors pay Him
• Bill runs as far from him as possible

FINAL THOUGHTS

• Stories were filled with Humor and Wit
• His writing style was based off of Realism
• Wrote about real characters he met in every day life
