WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

William Shakespeare was born April 26, 1564. He grew up in Stratford and married Anne Hathaway when he turned 18. He had 3 kids, Susanna, Hamnet and Judith Shakespeare wrote plays for the Chamberlain's men, they performed at the Globe Theatre. Some of his plays include The Taming of the Shrew, Richard III, Romeo and Juliet, and A Midsummer Night's Dream. Later on in his life Shakespeare wrote the plays Hamlet, Othello, King Lear, and Macbeth. Shakespeare died in his home in 1616.

HOUSE OF MEDICI

The Medici family were very important, they ruled Florence for about 200 years. During the Renaissance the Medici family sponsored many artists and science. Some of the artists they sponsored were Michelangelo, Raphael, Donatello, and Leonardo da Vinci. The Medici family was one of the richest families in Europe, what made them so rich and powerful was the Medici Bank. It was one of the largest banks in Europe. Giovanni de Medici Was the founder of the Medici Bank. The Medici family was important in the Renaissance because of how much they supported the arts, architecture, and science.

JOHANNES GUTENBERG

Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press, it is considered one of the most important inventions today. Gutenberg was born in Mainz, Germany in the year 1398. Gutenberg invented the printing press in 1450 and invented the movable type printing press later on. The first books printed with Gutenberg's printing press were the Bible and a German poem. Around 21 of Gutenberg's bibles are still around. Johann Gutenberg died in Mainz, Germany in 1468.

ARCHITECTURE

During the Renaissance architecture started to change architechs started getting their in spiration for buildings from the Roman and Greek buildings. Buildings were built to be more square, architechs built more arches and domesin their buildings, they used Roman-like columns, and the ceilings were built flat. Filippo Brunelleschi is considered to be the first Renaissance architect. Brunelleschi designed two churches, the church of San Lorenzo and the church of Santo Spirito. Some examples of architecture during the Renaissance are Basilica of St. Peter, The Sistine Chapel, Palazzo Pitti, Palazzo Farnese, El Escorial, and Pazzi Chapel. During the period of the Renaissance architecture like many other things changed.
