  • The renaissance started in Italy.
  • It started in Italy because of the geological location. It was positioned on the Mediterranean Sea and recieved both goods and new ideas.

  • A cultural movement that moved away from being closed minded and revived interest in Greek and Roman thought.

  • The Protestant Reformation was the 16oo's religious, political, intellectual and cultural disturbance that split Catholic Europe.

Martin Luther

  • Martin Luther changed Christianity when he began the Protestant Reformation in the 1600's in Europe.
  • He became a monk and rebelled against the Catholic Church

Medici Family

  • The Medicis were a wealthy, politically powerful Florentine family in the 14th century.
  • They helped make Florence a cultural center
