THE FUNCTION.

  • The function of the respiratory system is- to supply the body with a fresh oxygen supply and removes carbon dioxide.

  • Bronchi
  • Nose
  • Trachea
  • Pharynx
  • The diaphragm
  • Larynx

BRONCHI

  • Two major paths/passages that lead from the trachea to the lungs.

NOSE

  • The entry and exit point for air.

TRACHEA

  • The 'windpipe' or what connects the pharynx to the lungs.

PHARYNX

  • Is a passageway for both air and food at the back of the throat.

THE DIAPHRAGM

  • The muscles that cause you to breathe

AFFECTED BODY SYSTEMS

  • The respiratory system is affected by emphysema.

CAUSE AND SYMPTOMS

  • Smoking can cause emphysema.
  • Loss of breath is a symptom of emphysema

WHIcH ORGANS ARE AFFECTED

  • The lungs and blood vessels are affected.
  • The sponge tissues in the lungs get destroyed.

TREATMENT OR CURE

  • There are oxygen treatments and inhaled steroids.
  • Currently there is no cure for emphysema. It can only be treated.
