THE REVENUE ACT

  • TO INCREASE INDIVIDUAL INCOME TA
  • The Acts led to outrage among the colonists and helped spark the "Liberty" seizure and riots of 1768.
  • The British government also encouraged the Royal navy to apprehend and detain smugglers.

THE TEA ACT

  • Its principal over objective was to reduce the massive surplus of tea held by the financially troubled British East India Company
  • Colonists in the Thirteen Colonies recognized the implications of the Act's provisions, and a coalition of merchants and artisans similar to that which had opposed the Stamp Act 1765 mobilized opposition to delivery and distribution of the tea
  • The intelorable act was their main response
