REVENUE ACT (TOWNSHEND)

• Act passed by the British parliment. After objections to the sugar act.
• Also called the Townshend act named after Charles Townshend.
• John dickinson said Britain could regulate trade but cant tax citizens.
• Britains ultimate reaction was the Boston Massacre. 5 colonists died.

• Britain only let colonists buy tea from them and even lowered the prices.
• Colonists didn't want their money going into royal governers pockets.
• The colonists poured 342 tea chest into the harbor. (Boston Tea Party)
• Britain enforced to coercive act, closing bostons ports
