• Stacey car breaks down
• and they have to survive in the wild for a little bit.
• They also have to survive by not being able to defend themselves
• when the whites are treating the blacks unfair.

THE ROAD TO MEMPHIS TAKES PLACE IN

• Memphis
• Strawberry,Mississippi
• Jackson,Mississippi
• Great Faith,Mississippi
• Around the late 1900's.

THE IMPACT THE SETTING HAS ON THE STORY IS

• The title. If they didn't travel to Memphis
• it would not be called "The Road to Memphis."
• If it wasn't in the late 1900's they would not have a
• problem with blacks and whites.

CHARACTERS

CASSIE

• Cassie is the main character.
• She is very stubborn.
• Moe loves her but she just wants to be friends.
• Cassie has 3 brothers and 3 boys that are like her brothers.
• Cassie is the protagonist.

STACEY

• Stacey is Cassie's oldest brother.
• He is very helpful.
• He is also very caring.

MOE

• Moe is like Cassie's brother.
• Moe likes Cassie.
• Moe hits a white man and has to run to Memphis.
• Moe asked Cassie to "court" (marry) him.

OLIVER

• Oliver is more of a flat character.
• We don't know much about him.
• Besides he is Cassie's cousin.
• But he is like Cassie's brother.

SISSY

• Sissy is very mean and bratty.
• She wants to marry Clarence
• and is having a baby.
• Her brother is Harris.

CLARENCE

• Clarence is in the army.
• He is also very stubborn.
• Clarence is getting married to sissy.
• In the end he dies.

HARRIS

• Harris is a big baby and gets scared
• easily.Statler chased Harris up the tree
• and Harris broke his leg.
• Harris is also fat.

LITTLE MAN

• Little man is the youngest of Cassie's brothers.
• He is also very stubborn.
• He looks up to Stacey and Christopher-John.

CHRISTOPHER-JOHN

• Christopher-John is Cassie's
• second to oldest brother (after Stacey)
• He try's to tell Cassie not to do things but she doesn't
• listen.

STATLER AMES

• Statler Ames is a white man. He is very mean.
• He is always picking on black folks.
• He likes Cassie. This is the guy moe hits.
• Statler is the antagonist.

JAREMY SIMMS

• Jeremy is a white but he is
• really nice to blacks.
• He is not like the other whites.
• He is friends with most of the blacks.

BIG MA

• Big ma is Cassie's grandma.
• She is very strict and lady like.
• She doesn't like it when people disobey.

MA

• Ma is Cassie's mom.
• She is very sweet and kind hearted.
• She is a little strict ( but not as much as big Ma)

PA

• Pa is Cassie's dad.
• He is strict and all the kids think
• it is important for his opinion/thoughts.

LITTLE WILLIE

• Little willie is like Cassie's brother.
• He is also Stacey's best friend.

SOLOMON BRADLEY

• Solomon Bradley is white.
• He runs a lot of businesses.
• He is way older than Cassie but he still kissed her.

CONFLICT

• There is a lot of conflict in the end of this book.
• Sissy is having a baby and she won't tell who is the daddy.
• Moe has to leave to Memphis, but before he left he asked Cassie
• to court him.Also Clarence dies. They had to get Stacey's car fixed to.
• Also Solomon Bradley kissed Cassie in front of Moe.

• The rising action is when moe hits Statler Ames.
• Also Harris breaking his leg.
• And Statler picking on everybody.

• The climax is when the car breaks down
• and they can't get a train ticket.

• The falling action is when they have to stay
• with Solomon Bradley and when they get the car fixed.

RESOLUTION

• The resolution is when moe gets to go to Memphis
• and Cassie and everybody gets to go home.
