PALMER RAIDS

  • The Palmer raids were the attempts by the United States department of justice to arrest and report leftist
  • Especially anarchists
  • started November 1919
  • Over 500 people were deported out of the area
  • This ended when the American civil liberties union published a report of illegal practices against Palmer.

SACCO/VANZETTI TRIAL

  • Two Italian born anarchists who were convicted of murder
  • The trial began on June 22 1920
  • The trial went on until July 1 when the jury deliberated for five hours and returned guilty verdicts
  • Instead of sentencing Sacco and Vanzetti for murder they were sentenced for armed robbery for 12-15 years
  • That at the time was the maximum sentence allowed to be given

KU KLUX KLAN

  • It was a organization in which had advocated extremist reactionary currents
  • Such as white nationalism white supremacy and anti-immigration
  • The first klan arose from the southern United States
  • Six well educated confederate veterans from Pulaski, Tennessee created this klan on December 1865

HENRY FORD

  • The founder of ford and the sponsor of the assembly line technique
  • He manufactured the first automobile the model T
  • The ford motor company had a policy to do business to anyone that had relations with the United States

ASSEMBLY LINE

  • Created by Henry ford
  • Used to produce products more efficiently
  • It also gave more job opportunities

RISE OF NEW INDUSTRIES

  • With automobiles now being produced more types of jobs related to them are being made
  • Gas companies had more consumers
  • Tire company's were made and so were mechanics

PROHIBITION

18TH AMENDMENT

  • This established the prohibition of alcohol use
  • It did this by declaring the production and sale of alcohol

ORGANIZED CRIME

  • A group of criminals that plan to do illegal actions
  • Al Capone is the most associated with this topic
  • Some criminal organizations persuade company's to do business with them

21ST AMENDMENT

  • This repealed the 18th amendment of the u.s constitution
  • It mandated nationwide prohibition of alcohol.
  • It was ratified on December 5 1933

BABE RUTH

  • He was a pitcher and outfielder who played for 22 seasons
  • He originally played for the red soxs
  • He became one of the most popular baseball players that hit the field

JACK DEMPSY

  • American boxer and a cultural icon
  • He held the championship from 1919 to 1926
  • One of the best boxers out there

CHARLES LINDBERGH

  • 25 years old mail pilot
  • Winning the nonstop solo flight on may 20-21
  • Made a distance of nearly 3,600 miles
