Reasons for the Decline of the Safavid
Shah Abbas I died in 1629. His death marked the beginning of the end for the Safavid empire
After Abbas I's death his sons were put into protection. This lead to ill- equipped leaders.
Safi, Abbas's son and heir was extremely cruel. He murdered all claimants to the throne, including his mother.
All this lead to a decline in trade, which lead to a decline in it's military. In 1722 Afghan invaders reached the capital of the Safavid empire.

The Shah was the supreme leader of the Safavid empire.

The Safavid Empire's economy was mostly based on trade
Traded mostly silk, persian carpets, and textiles with europ.
Also traded horses and goat hair and spices as well
