Not only do sinners harm others, but they also harm God. The author of the article says that in the book of Psalms, we see Uriah’s family and Daniel apologizing to God and not to Uriah who was betrayed and murdered. Morse explains that David meant, “compared to all others he sinned against God alone”(Morse). But, though he sinned “only against God,” there are consequences to his actions. The consequence of sin, like that of Davids for example, affected all the husbands and wives, and sons and daughters that looked up to him as an example of a man after God’s own heart.
Dimmesdale in the Scarlet Letter was like David in a way and how his sin, after being revealed, confused the minds of the church that he was leading.
