Did you know that while the civil war was still going on John Wilkes Booth planned to kidnap the president and would return him only if the north surrendered

He also rounded up a band of rouges and ruffians to kill the Vice President and the Secretary of State all at the same time Booth was the only one who was successful

On August first 1843 their first child Robert was born

Died: July 16, 1882, Springfield, IL

Children: Robert Todd Lincoln, William Wallace Lincoln, Tad Lincoln, Edward Baker Lincoln

Her husband's assassination in 1865 shattered Mary Todd Lincoln. The next 17 years held nothing but sorrow. With her son "Tad" she traveled abroad in search of health, tortured by distorted ideas of her financial situation. After Tad died in 1871, she slipped into a world of illusion where poverty and murder pursued her.

Would I want to be a First Lady I really don't know because you do so many cool things like going to other countries and living in the White House but also you have a lot of responsibilities so it is something I would really have to think about

Mary Todd Lincoln she didn't goto school and that women of the time period were expected to learn how to entertain guests
