Individual Rights

  • Every Human Has rights and they have to be protected by the goverment
  • When the constitution was written some people did not want to pass it because it did not include individual rights for individual people

Popular Sovereignty

  • People who vote have power when they vote fro president,Us senator,school board and mayors
  • The quote "We the people" expresses popular sovereignty

  • The law provides to everybody famous or not
  • No matter how rich or poor the law still applies

Check and balance/ separation of power

  • There are 3 branches of gov. That power is split between and no Branch can act alone
  • Cant pass a law unless all pass them

Independent Judicary

  • Feels no pressure from Politians, controlled by check and balances but acts alone
  • Cant bribe or persure the supreme court

Federalism

  • Divides power between the state and central goverment
  • Delegated powers are controlled by the National Goverment
  • Reserved Powers are controlled by the States
  • Concurrent Powers are shared between the state and National goverment
