The Cross

They nailed him to a cross.
Jesus was crucified on Golgotha, the place of the skull. The soldiers nailed him to a cross and left him there to die.

The Tomb

They laid him in a tomb.
After Jesus died, they took his body down from the cross. He was buried in a tomb that belonged to Joseph of Arimathea. Pontius Pilate sent guards to watch the tomb so no one could take the body.

Jesus is Risen

"Do not be afraid.... He is alive!"
Early Sunday morning, two women named Mary went to the tomb. There, they found the stone rolled away and the tomb empty. An angel appeared, saying to them, "Do not be afraid. You are looking for Jesus, but he is not here. He is risen." The women were amazed and ran to share the news with Jesus' friends, "Jesus is alive!"
