Athough Belgium was to be a neutral country, Hitler and the King of Belgium decided otherwise. Therefore, there was little choice but to go into hiding. Jeannine was three years old at the time.
Jeannine uses her story of survival to educate us and the world, so that we can become informed of her experience, and learn about the things she did & thought about while she was in hiding.
What makes Jeannine's story so unique, is that she was such a young girl during this time, and her survival was as simple as going into the backyard, and hiding in an outhouse which, to most, is quite incredible.
